The future of EwR!! Srs post plz read (I'm drunk :D)

So uh, I'm pretty drunk. Also a bit high. Ignore this if you will..

But you know, SINCE we're all getting back together.. I think we should find a new game to focus on. While EwR has been mostly focused on warring, and BNet.. Which are both pretty dead and gone (warring especially.. BNet mostly..) we won't be pulling any new members from that.

The.. uh.. 10 of us.. I think it's 10, anyways... should decide what we're gonna do.
If it's just chilling on IRC and listening to DoN sexually harrass FRoG, all good. But if we're actually looking to EXPANDING and GROWING {EwR}, then we should focus on a game or two to pull new recruits from.
I have no doubt that between DoN and Cetnik, any new members will undoubtedly be scared away, it'd still be nice to try.

BNet is dead. IRC is free, easy to load up on, and we can use that as a main point to just hang and chat with. Easy enough, right?
There's already, what? 10 of us active at most? MeaL, Cetnik, Everblue (myself), KiLLa, DaRK, FRoG, Soulfly, TyLeR, DoN and Zerg. Members I've seen active on IRC. Firewall, you don't count 'cause your bitchass ain't on IRC (and don't tell me you don't have a PC. We all know Newfoundland has a community access PC that you can all use.)

We're all in our 20s. Bunch of losers that we are. But those were the guys WE looked up to as clan leaders back in the days, right? Those guys are probably like.. 40 now. :[ Fuckin' homos.

ANYWAYS.. SC2 fuckin' sucks. And if Blizzard continues on the road it's going, D3 probably will last just as long.. MAYBE a bit longer. But let's face it, D1, SC and D2 were made most popular BECAUSE of BNet. And Blizzard are cunts about that now, and "BNet 2.0" is nothing but a game host, with some shitty "facebook" type chat options. Which severely limits the uh.. "social experience" of their games.

So I conclude that we focus our efforts on a game (or two) that the majority of us play together. We recruit new people from that. DoN makes sexual advances on them. They either flee in terror or hang around for his strange fetishes... We have a website, forums.. Chill on IRC. I'm willing to shell out the $ per month for a Ventrilo server for us, or maybe ][)K has one and wouldn't mind having our handful of dudes use one (for members with mics... And we all fucking have them. It's 2011. Fuck off and die if you don't.) So, FPS, MMO, RTS? Wtf are we gonna do?

Zerg informs me that D3 will operate on "old bnet". I hope he's not drunk like me, 'cause that would be fantastic. But why wouldn't Blizzard stop licking the anus of WoW and let SC2 onto "old bnet" as well?

Great post, Everblue.

It's a bit early to tell where our permanent home will be in the future.  I can definitely see IRC as our main HQ for the same reasons you mentioned above (free, no need for cd-keys).  IRC is pretty much future-proof and will be there while we're gaming or just wandering the internet.

However, I believe we should still try and keep our Bnet channel alive.  Why?  Mostly for old time's sake, but also for the small possibility of recruiting new members.  New members on Bnet can be recruited by the few of us that still game on there.

Diablo 3 is currently the only game I can think of that would unify us all in gaming and picking up new, loyal recruits.

Ventrilo would be great once we're well-established in gaming and have the amount of members that will warrant the use and/or paying for Ventrilo.

For the moment, the most important step is having ZeRG update the forum to SMF 2.0 and the main site.  Meanwhile, we need to find and locate the few remaining members who are still MIA such as: DiSaSTeR, Disgusting/StarEdit, ZeRO, etc.
